New Year Resolution

Well, looks like the world didn't end in 2025 and now we have to chuck along for at least another year. My 2025 was uneventful so here's my resolutions to hopefully make 2026 more exciting.

Get conversational in Mandarin

Once upon a time I studied Mandarin in middle school and retained exactly one phase and one word -- 泰国人 and 牛奶。Unfortunately you need more than that to be able to use a language. Anyway, I've been doing Pimsleur every day (for the most part) for the past couple weeks and it's been great. I'm also using HelloChinese and Hanly apps and should be attending irl class sooner or later. My goal is to at least be able to listen and read in Mandarin without using the dictionary for every word.

Get a job

Woah, not the j-slur. But seriously, I've been taking some years off from university to bedrot focus on my mental health. I'm doing much better now, which is to say I didn't try to swallow a whole bottle of pills in 2025. So I think it's time I finally get out of the rut and to the Real World™. I'm expected to graduate by February (yay) and I'm aiming for a job in journalism. I'm doing it for the love of the game, y'all, look at the state of media right now.

Listen to more music

I've always been a music lover, but in 2023-2024 I just kind of stopped for no real reason. In late 2024 however I started to get into, out of all things, hip hop. Before that I was a 80s synthpop superfan. I guess they are both electronic music genres when you think about it. Either way, 2025 has been all about my newfound appreciation for the genre. I finally got back into listening to music! So in 2026 I'm hoping to get more into music. The goal is to listen to at least 3 new albums per week.

Eat healthier

As a Thai I'm a foodie by default. I don't subscribe to the idea of food as only sustenance. But I'm also aware that I should be eating better. Less sugar, more veggies. My creepy uncle has diabetes and the last thing I want is anything in common with that man. My friend have been nagging me to add some psyllium husk to my daily diet for months and it's time I listen to him.
