Butter Garlic Fried Rice
I can't cook. When you live in Bangkok, cooking isn't a necessary skill. But I figured I should at least learn how to cook a couple dishes so this is one of them I recently learned. Takes like 5 minutes to make.
Butter garlic fried rice
Serves one
What you'll need
- About 1 cup of cooked jasmine or short-grain rice or as much as you want.
- 1 whole garlic, minced.
- 2 tbsp butter. You can use either salted or unsalted.
- 1 egg (optional but recommended. Don't skip protein!).
- Seasoning. I used salt and MSG1.
Instructions
- To a cold pan (any pan will do, I used a skillet) add your butter and minced garlic. Stir until the garlic is slightly golden.
- Crack the egg into the pan and use your spatula to beat the egg roughly.
- Add your rice while the egg is still not fully cooked. Stir around.
- Season to taste and serve.
Further improvements
The original recipes for butter garlic fried rice calls for fried garlic slices as topping. I plan to try that later. I also want to add some diced carrots and peas to the mix. I suppose you could add meat to this recipe, but as this type of fried rice is usually served as a side at moo krata (Thai style grilled meat) restaurants I can't quite imagine it myself.
